Dec. 6 Open house of Simulated Ward in ShuTien Building
Date: 2024-11-29

The Shu-Tien Building was officially inaugurated in February 2024 as a core facility of the School of Medicine at National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University (NYCU) on the Boai Campus, Hsinchu City. Designed as a hub for engineering medicine research and innovative medical education, the building was transformed from the original Life Science Laboratory with the generous donation of a Taiwanese entrepreneur. The grand opening ceremony, held on January 19, 2024, marked the launch of its new mission. Shu-Tien building embodies NYCU's innovative integration of medicine and engineering, striving to cultivate a new generation of physicians with cross-disciplinary expertise, foster the convergence of medicine and technology, and serve as a cradle for future medical innovation.

As an engineering medicine research center, Shu-Tien building showcases the synergy between medicine and engineering. It provides solutions to challenges in biomedical science through engineering perspectives, assisting physicians in overcoming long-standing barriers in the field. To deepen the understanding of its facilities and functions among faculty and students, we are hosting an Open House event. During this event, first- and second-year students of the Physician Engineering Program will demonstrate various clinical scenarios in the simulation ward, including advanced applications such as 3D imaging, virtual and augmented reality technologies, transparent two-way displays, smart wards, medical robots, and handheld ultrasound devices. All faculty and students are warmly invited to participate, engage in discussions, and explore the innovative features of Shu-Tien building with its teachers and students!
